Danny MacNanny and the Rumbling Tum

Danny MacNanny and the Rumbling Tum

This is the new book which was an extremely exciting project last year. I collaborated with an amazing digital artist called Lana Grushnik who is in Iceland. We met through the Prosetrics magazine, where my poetry and art featured along with Lana’s digital art.

I contacted Lana to ask if she would be interested in creating the images for the story.

Lana was excited to become involved in the project. The wonders of technology allowed Lana and I to communicate via Zoom and email. She was fantastic to work with and between us we created Danny MacNanny.

The inspiration for the book was the Isle of Skye, which has been my home for thirty years. I am an amateur environmentalist and care very much for the planet. I worked for over forty years in the early years sector and taught children the importance of looking after the environment. Keeping the beaches clean and looking after our oceans is particularly important to me. I authored the story with this in mind. The book is in rhyming language about Tammy the hungry and grumpy cat and Danny who tries to catch a fish. The fishing trip is adventurous with storms, heavy rain, and rumbling tums. There is a message about looking after our oceans and recycling junk into homes for wildlife.
